Black History 2014 @ OCBC

As Black History Month is coming to a close, OCBC ended February with a bang and a re-cap of what Black History Month is all about.

Some of the activities included a skit by Mrs. Kaiwana Burnette and Patricia Ndombe.

Oak City Baptist Church would like to thank all those who helped out with Black History Month. Although February is coming to an end, our awareness of those who sacrificed and died for everything we now have will not.

We're Still Celebrating Black History @ OCBC!

On February 16th, 2014, OCBC continued to celebrate Black History Month. We continued the legacy of the legendary figure, Pres. Nelson Mandela of South Africa. We celebrated through poetry, dance, song, rhythm, and praise.

Today's sermon, made by Rev. Dr. William T. Newkirk, was called "I Am Free and Saved" based on the legacy of Harriet Tubman.

Harriet Tubman is one of the many figures we celebrate during Black History Month. She will continue to be a historical, legendary, and well-known figure through USA's course of history!

Ground Breaking Ceremony @ OCBC

On February 9th, 2014, Oak City members dedicated and blessed the field pit beside the main church to God. The dedication was put in place by Rev. Dr. William T. Newkirk.

After the dedication and commemoration, church leaders and members got a chance to "turn the dirt" to start off the process of building our new main church.
 Oak City members were
excited to start off the
dedication!

Two church attendants was asked to give a testimonial of her experience at the dedication ceremony.

- "I felt excited because Oak City will soon have a chance to have a bigger building."

- " I am excited for Oak City because we will soon have a chance to expand our ministry to people all around the community and around North Carolina!"
