On Sunday, April 5th, 2015, OCBC woke up early to celebrate the early Easter Sunday morning for the Easter Sunrise Service. This early morning service was held at Western Boulevard Presbyterian Church with Rev. Betty Connette and Rev. Dr. Bruce Grady.
Western Boulevard Presbyterian Church hosted this service, and worshiped the Risen Savior along with Rev. Timothy Howell and Athens Baptist Church, Rev. Canon Ian MacGregor and the All Saints Anglican Parish, and Rev. Dr. William T. Newkirk with Oak City Baptist Church.
Western Boulevard Presbyterian Church's Church Cancel Choir along with Janet Cherry, a music director and organist, led the service in song.
Finally, the wonderfully spoken sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Howell of Athens Drive Baptist Church, which was titled, "The Empty Tomb."
At the conclusion of the service, a wonderful breakfast reception was hosted by Western Boulevard Presbyterian Church...and all four churches were blessed with the food that was prepared...
...but, the fun didn't end there!!!
OCBC members traveled back to their home church to witness the splendid Easter Program Project created by the Sunday School Ministry. In this project, members of OCBC displayed what Easter meant to them through forms of art...all truly went well!
After the wonderful Easter art displays, at 10:45 am on the dot, our very own Rev. Timothy Lucas led the Easter Church Service. The OCBC Celebration Choir sang beautifully-done songs like the service introit "He That Believeth," and two uplifting special selections before the meat of the service...the sermon.
Our very own esteemed Rev. Dr. William T. Newkirk preached wonderfully on the topic, "When You Feel Forsaken" in honor of the Easter Sunday.
If you missed out on this blessing...you might not want to miss the next one rolling around soon!
